Luckily, I’m here to tell you where to find Cactuars, as well as how and why you should find them.

How and Where to find Cactuars

First, you can find Cactuars pretty easily in the area north of the Longwythe Rest Area – which is just southwest of Hammerhead.

However, you will need the Beast Whistle to call enemies to you, which you get in Chapter 4. They can spawn without it, but it is very rare and much easier to just blow the whistle until it comes out.

Why Fight Cactuars?

You know how to find them now, but why should you bother fighting a Cactuar in the first place? I’ll give you two good reasons.

Cactuars give 3,333 experience for each kill.  So they’re great fodder for farming experience if you can get them to come out. They drop Ascension Coins and Cactuar Needles. You can sell Coins or use them to power up spells. Cactuar Needles can be used to upgrade certain weapons.

Fighting Cactuars

These are not only hard to find, they are quick to escape as well. You will want to come prepared before finding them so you don’t miss out!

Cactuars are weak to Guns and Daggers, so make sure to have 1 of those. But they are resistant to Fire, so they will take longer to kill if you use that.

It’s a good idea to use Ice or Lightning magic with Stopcast on it. You can make Stopcast easily by combining the Maiden’s Kiss item with your magic.

If you know you can kill them quickly, add Expericast from an Old Book item to increase the experience you get form them for an added bonus.

That’s all you need to know to find Cactuars, kill them, and profit greatly from it. Let me know if you have any questions!
